(1931-2008) Doyle
White, 77, passed away peacefully on Sept. 23, 2008, surrounded by
family and
friends. His passing came on the 47th anniversary of his father's
death. A
private graveside service was held at the White Family Cemetery in
Coolidge.
Born Jan. 30, 1931, to Lois Inez Murphy White and Aubrey Lee White of
Coolidge,
Doyle was a 1949 graduate of Thomasville High School and attended South
Georgia
College in Douglas. After joining the United States Air Force in 1951,
Doyle
trained as a pilot and later became a flight instructor at Spence Field
in
Moultrie. He maintained a lifelong love of flying and spent many happy
hours in
the air. An avid outdoorsman, Doyle had a deep appreciation for nature.
He
loved the woods and fields of his family's farm along the banks of the
Ochlocknee River and worked tirelessly to preserve them for future
generations.
Doyle placed great value on family and friends, offering support to
those who
were ill, bereaved or otherwise in need. A longtime employee of Davis
Water and
Waste, Doyle joined the company in 1960 and remained there until his
retirement
as president, CEO and chairman of the board of US Filter in 1998. Doyle
is
survived by his wife, Elizabeth Anstis White; son, Mark White; daughter
and
son-in-law, Amy and Don Rockwell; grandchildren, Gregg, Will and
Elizabeth
Rockwell; sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Mickey Logue; nephews,
Steve
and Kyle Logue; aunt, Donita Turner; uncle and aunt, L.P. and Dot
Murphy, and
uncle, Lewis Murphy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that
memorials be
made to The Children's Advocacy Center of Thomas County, P.O. Box 2176,
Thomasville Ga. 31799.
